The Great Wall of S. Newton - Nearing Completion

The guys finished the gate and started staining the fence today. I think it looks good, though I think they're coming tomorrow to touch up some spots...or at least I hope they are! I'm digging the color of most of it, and the guys did an amazing job on the gate's knob. Very solid feel, and very clean aesthetically.

Oh and on another note, look at these guys--all FIVE of them waiting for me at 10pm last night when I came out to move the water...and they were seemingly not bothered by my presence.

Hi Brent & Jamie,

The house is looking GREAT...we are Chris and Jane Chadwick and are just beginning our search for an MCM house. Harvey Park is tempting...but we just aren't sure yet! We were encouraged to see your home...again, looks great. Do you know how many "models" of the Cliff Mays were put in? We have been in one...there was an estate sale this weekend and it seemed tiny and in disrepair beyond what we are willing to do. Any insight you may have for us would be appreciated as to the area and models of houses. Seems like there are 4 or 5 for sale currently. We have a buyers agent specializing in MCM, but your inside information would be great! Thanks...Jane Chadwick, jane.chadwick@comcast.net

I just saw your blog for the first time on the LottaLivin' board. Congratulations on your 'new' house and my compliments on your work in restoring it. I've never seen a Cliff May in the snow and I'm just amazed. I have a CM in southern California so that's something I not used to. Anyway, keep up the good work and I'll keep checking in. Cheers!

The fence looks great. Adds to the mystic of the place.

You guys gonna stick a private hot tub in that enclosed area now?

Hi, I think the fence looks great! I am currently building a fence of my own and want to use similar horziontal borads alternating as you have done. However I am having trouble finding the right board. did you use 5/4 inch thick tight knot cedar decking boards? I noticed yours are sanded, corect? not rough like most fence boards. anyway great blog and thanks for any help

Hi, Love your fence. I was wondering if you could post another image or two of your fence gate? I like the design of it, especially how it uses a conventional doorknob rather than junky fence gate hardware. I'm a little confused about the exact configuration of the frame. Is that a 2 x 4 that the door knob is mounted to? How did your fencemaker attach the 2 x 4 to the rest of the frame?
Many thanks!
